Plato

Plato
OBSIDIAN portrait of a hand carved skull in profile, framed in an elaborate hand made and hand engraved 18 carat white and yellow gold locket. Obsidian is an extremely hard stone on the Mozer scale and also of very high frequency. it has a slightly metallic silver sheen to it as the light strikes. This piece because of the thoughtful profile of the deceased is named for the philosopher PLATO. The portrait frame is hinged and opens to reveal the inscription which surrounds the head when closed. The inscription reads, “The only thing you take with you, is what you give away.”
All of the gold work is codes - the Maltese cross, the beads of white gold, each carry a message from ancient times to uplift, protect and empower.
This piece is truly a talisman. A precious reverent “Memento Mori.” Plato is a reminder that death is inevitable with a beautiful lesson of how to meet that moment of grace.
